A Maternity Pillow Offers Support In All The Right Places For Expectant Mothers To Be

A maternity pillow is specially designed to offer support in the areas that pregnant women need. The weight and mass of a growing belly makes sleeping on the back uncomfortable and even side sleeping can be difficult latter in the pregnancy. A large belly can pull you into an uncomfortable position and cause stress on the back which leads to pain and discomfort while sleeping. A maternity pillow will counter these problems by offering the proper support.

The most common type of maternity pillow is two cushions with an adjustable pad in between. This allows you to adjust the pillows so that they offer you the support you need where you need it. One cushion supports the back and the other cushion supports the growing belly making sleeping a comfortable relaxing time.

The bean body pillow is also recommended as a maternity pillow. This is a long cylindrical pillow that offers support to the knees, hips, belly and shoulders. This pillow also helps with side sleeping and is recommended by many physicians and chiropractors for those that need support during pregnancy, while breast feeding or reading, and for those with chronic back pain.

A maternity pillow should be made of a high quality polyfill so that it can be machine washed an won't lose its bounce. A high quality fill will also prevent it from clumping or becoming flat after extended use. Nothing is more important than a comfortable, restful sleep, especially when so much is changing in your body and in your life. A maternity pillow will help you sleep well so that you can wake up each morning refreshed and ready to go.
